Ted's parents were good and decent people, with love of neighbor, family, and God. His father left his betrothed in their native Europe, while he sought employment in the U.S.A Having promised her he would return for her once he had gained a living wage, upon establishing himself here, he journeyed to his fatherland and claimed his waiting bride-to-be.
Times were not always easy. They lived through the depression and learned to save, a lesson they passed on to their only son, Ted.
A patriot, Ted's father joined the U.S. Armed Forces during World War I. He considered it a duty and privilege. When Hitler besieged Europe and a call was made for metals for the war effort, sensing the grave plight of their kinsmen, they each donated their wedding bands They would never replace these symbols of their love.
After losing twins, they were told they could have no more children. When Ted arrived, they were both surprised and overjoyed. They raised him the the Church.
